Naturalist

Chile compresses an unusual range of ecosystems into one territory — desert and altiplano, temperate rainforest, fjords, and ice field — placing flamingo colonies, penguin rookeries, condor country, and puma habitat within reach of a single itinerary. LATOUR designs naturalist programs that move between them, coordinating the specialist guides and wildlife experts who lead each excursion. Behind the guiding sits the operation: lodges, boats, remote ground transportation, and the domestic flights that connect one ecosystem to the next.

Gastronomy

Chile’s food runs the length of the country — Pacific seafood and coastal markets, Central Valley wine estates, Mapuche and Andean ingredients, Patagonian lamb, and Atacama’s high-desert produce — and each region reframes the same itinerary through what’s on the table. LATOUR threads a single gastronomic narrative through the program: private dining with chefs, market visits, wineries, and regional tastings, linked by the hotels, transportation, and reservations that move a group from one region’s kitchen to the next. Food becomes the itinerary’s throughline, not a list of restaurant bookings.

Skiing Across Chile

A ski program here is not one resort but a route through the Andes — Central Chile’s high-altitude terrain within an hour of Santiago, volcano-flanked slopes farther south, each with its own snowpack, exposure, and season. LATOUR sequences a multi-region itinerary around current conditions, coordinating private instructors and guides, equipment, mountain transfers, hotels, and the domestic flights and ground transportation that connect one range to the next. Snow, road access, and mountain operations shift quickly in the Andes; our role is to build the flexibility to adapt into the program from the start.

Why It Takes One Operator

A special interest program multiplies the variables of a normal itinerary. One route can cross three regions in a week, hand a group between a naturalist guide, a fishing outfitter, and a chef, and depend on a domestic flight, a six-room lodge, and a mountain road that may or may not be open. Equipment has to be in place before the group arrives; suppliers have to be vetted before we recommend them; and when weather or access changes overnight, the itinerary has to change with it. LATOUR holds all of it under one coordinated operation — the same accountable team managing reservations, transportation, and contingency from the first specialist to the last transfer, regardless of how many regions or partners the program touches. For an international operator, that is the difference between a compelling concept and a program that runs.
